Truxedo Pro X15 Problems

We have listed some of the most common Truxedo Pro X15 problems and their solutions after reviewing user feedback online. So let’s check those possible Truxedo Pro X15 problems and tips to troubleshoot them.

Installation problem

First, many users complain that it’s quite impossible to shout this Truxedo Pro x15 tonneau down with the tailgate closed. But, it’s easy to close the tonneau while keeping the tailgate open.

The Truxedo pro x15 tonneau comes with ripples that are sometimes hard to scratch out. Some users experience lengthwise ripples across the top even after re-attaching the Velcro and pulling it tightly.

The solution to both of these difficulties is to install the tonneau properly. It’s super simple to install a Truxedo Pro X15 Tonneau Cover within 30 minutes by following the user manual.

Despite this, you can adjust the tension on the front side. If the rails aren’t positioned, you can experience such operating difficulties.

Wind lift up the vinyl fabric end

Driving the truck on the highway at full speed can sometimes lift the edge of the vinyl fabric of your tonneau. This Truxedo Pro x15 problem can also produce noise.

To avoid this difficulty, engage the hook and loop on both the passenger and driver’s side rails after closing the tonneau. You should apply these maintenance tips periodically before going out on a long trip.

Vinyl fabric waves excessively

Some users notice that their Truxedo Pro x15 cover flutters while driving the vehicle. It can happen for two main reasons: loose tension of the cover and inaccurate setting of hook and loop fasteners.

Adjust the tension

The expansion and contraction of tension control can be caused by the temperature change. and it can cause the tonneau to weave. That’s why you should raise the tension during the hottest part of the day.

To adjust the tension, remove the hook and loop fasteners from both side rails close to the cab. Then check the density of both spring plungers against the front header; its gap should be 1/16″.

Rotate the cover open to adjust the gap and then close the cover to check the change. Keep rolling the cover open until you get that satisfying tension.

Inaccurate hook and loop fasteners

You should hear a clicking sound while closing the cover. It indicates a securely installed tonneau cover. Otherwise, the vinyl fabric can wave excessively due to the incorrect setting of the hook and loop fastener.

To secure the hook and loop fastener along the whole length of the side rails, pull the fabric over the hook first. Then run your hand through both sides of the tonneau to avoid weaving due to wind.

Accumulation of snow and ice

The Truxedo Pro X15 cover isn’t completely waterproof. So, after driving the truck during snowfall, you will notice some snow and ice on the vinyl fabric. Though you can’t avoid this trouble, using a brush or broom will help you get back the clean cover.

But don’t use anything sharp or a pointed tool for this task. You can also keep the tonneau cover in direct sunlight to melt the snow and ice automatically. It will also help avoid scratching the tonneau.

The cover moves too far from one side

The Truxedo Pro X15 cover is made from top-grade, woven fabric and graced with a stylish matte finish. Its mechanical parts are also secure and durable. Still, this cover can get sifted from one side due to hard use.

In this case, unlatch your tonneau cover at the tailgate. Then remove the hook and loop from the side. For safety, pull from the shorter side of the tarp. Keep pulling until you find the tarp in the center of the whole system. Then latch the cover and secure the hook and loop as required.

Tonneau doesn’t latch

In the extreme case, your Truxedo Pro X15 tonneau cover can stop latching. It can happen if the header seal gets caught between the header and the side rails. Another possible reason is the too low position of the side rails on the pickup box.

To fix this problem, you must ensure proper tension on the cover. Luckily, you already know how to adjust the tension on the Truxedo Pro X15 Tonneau Cover.

Despite that, installing a clamp is also an effective solution. To do so, insert the screw through the clamp and into the cutout of the tail. Then lead the screw through the installed u nut, but don’t tighten the screw completely. Start with the front hole and the rear hole to keep the rail in place.

Then install the rest of the 4 middle clamps. Push the screw on the rail while tightening to set the rail on the cap of the truck bed. Repeat this installation on both sides.
